a time of remembrance for Mike Powers...

Hopefully you all have received the news that my husband Mike passed away on Saturday. It was an unexpected end for my best friend....It has been hard, messy, scary, quiet. But I am saturated with the presence of my family and friends.

It has been overwhelming but so so good to receive all of your loving words and to hear all of the memories you had of Mike. It affirms to me what an amazing, extraordinary, one of kind person he was...

The visitation hours for Mike will be at Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford Thursday 2-4 pm, 6-9 pm and Friday 11 am-1 pm. We are waiting to finalize the location for the memorial service which will take place on Friday late afternoon and once I know I will pass that information along.

Also in lieu of flowers we ask that you offer contributions to our dear friends Chad and Marlana Smith who are in Guatemala serving and loving on orphans. Checks can be me made out to Blythefiled Hills Baptist Church c/o Chad and Marlana Smith.

Also I know some have asked about meals...i appreciate the offer. and i would love to set up times where i can share meals with you, whether it is here at my home or with you at your home.

So grateful for your presence...clinging to your prayers,
kelly

I never met Mike face to face but I met him every time I read Kelly's words, or saw her face or read a story about how totally complete her life was with this man Mike. I remember hearing about Mike for the first time. I was a senior at Taylor and you'd graduated and gotta a job nearby at another college. You were visiting with me that weekend and told me about "this guys" and some where in the conversation you slipped in the fact that he was going to marry you. I shreaked like I do, and you laughed like you do because you weren't even dating yet but you knew anyway. I love that memory. That's what i think of when i think of Kelly and Mike.

Kelly - Thinking of you and knowing that Mike is delighting in Jesus' presence. Those of us in Seattle are thinking and praying for your healing and God's grace on you.
